Dr. Sketchy’s Philly

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Attended Dr. Sketchy’s life model drawing session last night at the Sanctuary of Fleishcer Art Memorial.  The theme was ‘Sketchy in Wonderland’ so the model’s were adorned in some fashion or another, Alice In Wonderland attire;  I had to go.

Here’s some of the drawings I did:

(two ten minute poses)

(three two minute poses)

(one forty minute pose broken into two twenty minute sessions)

(detail)

I could have spent hours just drawing her tattoo’s.  She had some good ones.

Special thanks to the ladies Cherry Bomb and Key of The Peek-A-Boo Revue! who posed for such unnatural periods of time.  I know that is difficult to do.

In the studio

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Life is easy when you have a studio to go to work on art.

Currently working on this commissioned family portrait and a new series of work that combine nature photography with abstract line drawing.  I’m looking at surface textures and tones in a monochromatic scale and listening to lots of ‘atmospheric’ type music of the ambient sort.  (intentionally vague and nebulous)

Spring is almost here.
